Nabanita De

Associate Director, RNA Biochemistry at Arrakis Therapeutics

Nabanita De has over 18 years of work experience in the biochemistry field. In 2003, they began their career as a Graduate Student at Cornell University, where they structurally and functionally investigated proteins that regulate cyclic di-GMP signaling. Nabanita then moved on to The Scripps Research Institute in 2009, where they worked as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow. In 2014, they became a Research Scientist at Massachusetts General Hospital, where they established strategies to purify mammalian proteome by biotinylation of primary amines and developed methods to reduce non-covalent interactions of proteins with nucleic acids. In 2017, they joined The RNA Medicines Company as a Senior Research Scientist. In 2018, they began working at GreenLight Biosciences, Inc. as a Senior Scientist, where they drove mRNA platform development with the goal to develop rapid, scalable mRNA vaccines. Nabanita also guided the design, synthesis and characterization of mRNAs, evaluated the effect of structural parameters on mRNA stability and translation, collaborated with analytical and manufacturing teams, led a team to generate pre-clinical mRNA samples for testing in mice, led efforts towards the quantification of product-related impurities, recruited and trained team members, and communicated data to upper management and consultants. In 2022, they joined Arrakis Therapeutics as an Associate Director, RNA Biochemistry.

Nabanita De has a strong educational background in Chemistry. Nabanita began their studies in 1998 when they earned a Bachelor of Science - BS from Presidency University, Kolkata. Nabanita then went on to receive a Master of Science - MS from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 2003. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry and Chemical Biology from Cornell University in 2008.
