Chief Operating Officer & Executive Vice President at Arsenal Medical

Lee Core has a diverse and extensive work experience in the medical field. Lee began working at ABIOMED in 1998 as a Project Leader and Senior R&D Engineer, where they led the development of a next generation Hemashield Cannula. This cannula received commercial approval for use with the BVS 5000 Ventricular Assist System.

In 2002, Lee joined NMT Medical as a Project Leader and Senior R&D Engineer. Lee worked in this role until 2004, contributing to various projects within the organization.

Lee then joined Medtronic in 2004, where they served as a Project Leader and Senior R&D Engineer. During their time there, they played a crucial role in the development and worldwide commercial approval of the Export Aspiration Catheter, used for thrombus aspiration during coronary and peripheral interventions. Lee also contributed to the development of the Melody and Harmony Transcatheter Valve Systems, both of which received FDA approval.

In 2008, Lee joined Lyra Therapeutics as the Senior Director of Product Development. Lee was responsible for the development of bioresorbable drug delivery implants and associated delivery systems. Under their leadership, Lyra Therapeutics reached the human safety trial for a resorbable vascular stent and introduced device iterations to the clinic.

Most recently, Lee joined Arsenal Medical as the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President in 2017. In this role, they have been leading the development of in-situ forming polymeric implants and associated delivery systems. Lee is currently focused on the development of products for abdominal hemorrhage and vascular embolic applications. Additionally, they successfully executed the separation of Arsenal Medical from Lyra Therapeutics in 2018.

Lee Core attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute from 1993 to 1997, earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Lee continued their education at the same institute from 1997 to 1999, obtaining a Masters in Biomedical Engineering. In 2000, Lee enrolled in the Babson F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business, completing their studies in 2005 and earning a Masters in Business Administration with a focus on Entrepreneurship.
