Andrea Liu

Director, Molecular Biology at ArsenalBio

Andrea Liu has a diverse background in molecular biology, protein engineering, and metabolic engineering. Andrea is currently working at ArsenalBio as the Director of Molecular Biology, a position they started in March 2022. Prior to this, they held the role of Associate Director of Molecular Biology at ArsenalBio from March 2021 to March 2022. Before joining ArsenalBio, Andrea worked at Intrexon Corporation, where they served as a Senior Scientist in Metabolic Engineering and Strain Development from August 2018 to February 2020. Andrea also worked as a Scientist II in the same department from April 2017 to August 2018 and as a Scientist from December 2015 to April 2017. Andrea began their career at Bell Biosystems, Inc. as a Scientist in Molecular and Microbiology from March 2014 to November 2015. During their time at Bell Biosystems, they engineered magnetotactic bacteria to serve as intracellular living MRI contrast agents. Andrea's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford, which they obtained between 2009 and 2014. Andrea also worked as a Research Associate at Codexis, Inc. from July 2008 to October 2009 and as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Stanford University from December 2007 to July 2008.

Andrea Liu began their education in 2004 at the University of California, Berkeley, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology. Andrea completed their undergraduate studies in 2008. Following this, they went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, graduating in 2014.
