Silas Burdick

Silas Burdick is a seasoned professional in fermentation and bioprocess development with extensive experience in leadership roles across multiple companies. Currently serving as Head of Fermentation at Arsenale BioYards since June 2024, Burdick previously held the same title at Pow.bio. Prior positions include Associate Director of Fermentation at Apertor Pharmaceuticals and Senior Scientist at Joyn Bio, where Burdick built a fermentation team and managed both fermentation and biorepository departments. Before these roles, Burdick worked at Zymergen, Inc., progressing from Shift Lead II to Group Lead, focusing on process development and safety guidelines. Burdick's early career involved legal experience in patent law, combined with significant technical roles at bp and Verenium Biofuels, emphasizing laboratory management and process optimization. Burdick holds a Juris Doctorate in Intellectual Property Law from UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law and a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Wittenberg University.
