Margaret Holben Ellis

Margaret Holben Ellis serves as an Exhibition Conservator at the Art Institute of Chicago since July 2022. In addition, Margaret holds the position of Eugene Thaw Professor Emerita of Paper Conservation at IFA/NYU, a role pursued since 1987. Prior experience includes serving as Director of Conservation at the Thaw Conservation Center, Morgan Library & Museum in New York, and Conservator at the Sherman Fairchild Center for Paper Conservation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, also in New York. Margaret's academic background includes a Master’s degree and Certificate in Conservation from New York University (1975-1979) and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Barnard College (1973-1975).
