Naima Ramos-Chapman is a Brooklyn-based director, writer, and performer with a wide range of narrative and documentary credits, working to tell stories of personal transformation and understated bravery. Her first short, Nothing Happened, premiered at the 2016 Slamdance Film Festival. Her second short, Piu Piu, premiered at the 2018 BlackStar Film Festival. Since 2018 she has written, directed, and acted in the Peabody Award-winning HBO Series Random Acts of Flyness. In 2020, she co-produced and story edited for the HBO coming-of-age series Betty. She was also a 2018 Sundance Institute Screenwriters Intensive Fellow and a 2021 United States Artists Fellow. Raised in Flatbush, Brooklyn, she studied dance from childhood and attended the Alvin Ailey School for Dance and continues to perform.
