Patrick A. Woodard, MHA, MD, is the Chief Medical Information Officer & VP Clinical Systems at Renown Health in Reno, Nevada. In this role, Dr. Woodard is responsible
for the strategy, execution, and optimization of clinical software across the health system, including its acute care, medical group, and health insurance divisions. Prior to coming to Renown Health, he founded and led DocDox, an innovative patient handoff tool that, through user feedback, became a provider-friendly light EMR for use in skilled nursing and long-term acute care facilities.
These days, though primarily working in the health IT space, he can still be found caring for patients as a board-certified internal medicine hospitalist. He believes retaining a connection to the patient is critical in representing the fundamentally human nature of healthcare, even when working with machines.
Dr. Woodard completed his Master of Healthcare Administration at the George Washington University, having completed his MD at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts at Georgetown University.
