Noit Banai

Noit Banai is an established scholar and critic in the field of contemporary art, currently serving as a Professor of Diaspora Aesthetics at Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien since October 2024. With extensive experience, Noit has contributed as a critic to Artforum International Magazine since April 2007 and held significant academic roles, including Director of the Centre for Research and Development in Visual Arts at the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University, and Associate Professor of Art & Theory at Hong Kong Baptist University from August 2021 to August 2024. Previous appointments include Visiting Professor roles at New York University Shanghai and the University of Applied Arts Vienna, along with a long tenure as Professor of Contemporary Art at the University of Vienna. Educated at Columbia University, Noit holds a PhD in Art History.
