Rubén Artero

Co-Founder at ARTHEx Biotech

Rubén holds a MSc and Ph.D. in Biochemistry and is full professor of Genetics at the Universitat de València. During his doctoral studies he discovered the MUSCLEBLIND gene, the founding member of the MBNL family of proteins. He received six years of postdoctoral training at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, studying Drosophila myogenesis. He has been leading the Translational Genomics lab at the UV since 2002. His laboratory research is focused on the molecular basis of muscle atrophy in myotonic dystrophy and the identification of appropriate therapeutic targets for drug development using cell, animal and bioinformatics approaches.
