Educational credentials include a PhD in Physical Chemistry from The University of Chicago, complemented by undergraduate research at the College of Charleston, where Lawson focused on the effects of organic solvent mixtures on polymer thin film morphology. Additional experience includes roles as a Graduate Teaching Assistant leading discussions and labs in General Chemistry and Molecular Mechanisms of Human Disease, and as a Supplemental Instruction Leader in Organic Chemistry. Early research involvement includes a NSF-REU Research Assistantship at the University of Mississippi, studying azabenzenes via Raman spectroscopies and DFT calculations.
