Teaching Artist at ArtsWestchester

MJ Territo is a jazz vocalist, writer, and educator with extensive experience in promoting women in jazz and early childhood music education. As the founder of the Ladies Day Jazz Ensemble since 2012, MJ focuses on discovering and promoting works by women jazz composers, highlighted by the critically-acclaimed CD "Ladies Day." Currently serving as a teaching artist with ArtsWestchester, MJ has also received the 2017 Yonkers Arts Initiative grant to present a Creative Aging course. With a background as an outreach coordinator for Music Together, LLC, and a director for Rhythm & Song, LLC, MJ has dedicated efforts toward making music education accessible to disadvantaged families. An accomplished author of over 20 books and a speaker at national education conferences, MJ Territo holds a BA in American Civilization from the University of Pennsylvania.

Established in 1965 as the Council for the Arts in Westchester, we are New York State’s largest private, not-for-profit service organization, working to ensure the availability and accessibility of the arts for all of the county’s residents.
