Almudena Barona

Almudena Barona is an accomplished civil engineer with extensive experience in project management and leadership within the civil and water engineering sectors. Currently serving as the Associate Director and Water Business Leader at Arup España, Almudena oversees a team of over 30 professionals and manages civil and water projects across Spain. Previous roles include serving as Project Manager and Technical Director at AECOM, where significant projects included the Recovery of the Navigability of the Magdalena River and the Multipurpose Port of Puerto Salgar in Colombia. Almudena has also led port projects at A&D ALVARADO & DÜRING, directed civil engineering projects at AB INGENIERIA, and managed construction services at SACYR. Academic qualifications include an MSc in Civil Engineering and Hydraulic Engineering from Universidad de Burgos, as well as a Master’s degree in Water and Environmental Studies from Universidad de Valladolid.
