Sam Hambling

Sam Hambling has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. From 2019 to the present, Sam has worked at ASB Bank, starting as an Associate Data Scientist and later progressing to the role of Data Scientist. Currently, Sam is the Chapter Lead for the Data Science team, where they lead a team of Data Scientists and Engineers to provide valuable insights through advanced analytics. In 2021, Sam also served as a Financial Literacy Kaiako at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. Prior to these roles, Sam gained experience as a Data Science Intern at ASB Bank in 2018. Sam's earlier experiences include working as a Telemarketing Specialist at NZME. in 2015, and volunteering as a Shop Assistant at Save the Children NZ and as an Information Technology Assistant at Hamilton City Library in 2014.

Sam Hambling completed an International Baccalaureate at St Peter's School, Cambridge, New Zealand, in an unknown year. Then, from 2014 to 2018, Sam attended The University of Auckland, earning a Bachelor of Commerce with a focus on Finance and a Bachelor of Science with a specialization in Computer Science and Statistics. In 2018, Sam enrolled at the University of Canterbury and completed a Master of Applied Data Science from 2018 to 2019. In 2020, Sam obtained a Certificate (Level 5) in Adult & Tertiary Teaching from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. Sam's additional certifications include a Management Essentials Certificate, obtained from The University of Auckland in April 2023, and an Associate Certified Analytics Professional (aCAP) obtained in August 2021 from CAP® Certified Analytics Professional.
