Scott Firestone

DBT Group Facilitator, Encino at Ascend Healthcare

Scott received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Fordham University in New York. Scott began his Social Work career as a substance abuse counselor in a drug rehab program in a maximum-security prison in Florida. He later went on to work for 20 years as a Caseworker for the Department of Social Services. For Social Services, Scott worked with families struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues, providing counseling and casework management for families who needed assistance getting their children back from foster care or preventing their children from entering the foster care system in the first place.

During this past year, Scott has been facilitating DBT and Process Groups at Ascend Healthcare. He also worked in a local elementary school doing therapy with children who struggle with a variety of behavioral issues. Scott has also been working part-time for a private clinical practice, seeing teens and children for therapy. He is working towards clinical social work licensure in the state of California.
