Joan Gejl Jessen

Joan Gejl Jessen currently serves as the VP & Head of Global Tax at Ascendis Pharma, a position held since January 2022. Prior experience includes roles such as Head of Group Tax at ROCKWOOL Group and Head of Global Tax at Falck. Joan has also contributed significantly as Group Chief Tax Counsel for The Maersk Group, handling major controversies and litigation. Additional relevant positions include Director of Group Tax for The Rezidor Hotel Group, where a tax function was established across various regions, and Head of Energy Taxation at A. P. Moller - Maersk Group. Education includes an LL.M. from Boston University School of Law and Master of Laws from the University of Copenhagen, supplemented by business management training and coaching certifications. Joan also holds the title of Attorney at Law since 2017 and served as a First Lieutenant in the Danish Armed Forces from 1993 to 2008.
