Leila González Sullivan

Dr. Leila González Sullivan is an adjunct faculty member and faculty facilitator for the New York Student Cluster in the School of Education Leadership for Change of the Fielding Graduate University. In 2009, she retired from her full-time position as the W. Dallas Herring Professor of Community College Education in the Department of Adult and Higher Education at North Carolina State University. In 2001, Dr. González Sullivan also served as the Interim Director for Community College Relations at The College Board. She has held community college presidencies in the states of Connecticut and Maryland. Dr. González Sullivan has been involved in the community college movement at the national, regional, and local levels for many years. She has served on the board of directors of the American Association for Community Colleges twice, was the national president of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC), and was the Executive Director of the National Community College Hispanic Council’s Leadership Fellows Program. She served 12 years as a member of the board of trustees for the American University of Rome and earlier on the board of trustees of Trinity University Washington (formerly Trinity College). In her community of Maplewood, New Jersey, she serves on the Community Coalition on Race. Dr. González Sullivan holds her EdD in Vocational Education and EdS in Adult Education from the University of Arkansas. She holds her MA in Spanish Literature from New York University and earned her BA from Trinity College in Washington, D.C. Her research interests focus on the effects of leadership training, an area in which she has published numerous articles and book chapters.
