Johnson Raju's work experience begins in 1996 as a Civil Design Engineer at Kemasepakat Sdn Bhd Consulting Engineers. Johnson then worked as a Resident Engineer at Ansari Engineering Services from 2002 to 2007, where they managed construction supervision projects and designed water supply and drainage systems. From 2008 to 2009, they served as a Project Manager at IL&FS ETS. In 2009, Raju became a Lead Civil Infrastructure Engineer at AECO Development LLC, focusing on design management for the Blue City Project in Oman. Johnson joined Mott MacDonald in 2010 as a Lead Project Engineer before joining Haya Water in 2012 as a Lead Civil Engineer in Asset Management. Since 2015, Raju has been working at Public Works Authority 'Ashghal' in Qatar as a Lead Engineer, overseeing the design and management projects related to water networks and sewage treatment.

Johnson Raju has a diverse education history. Johnson obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Civil Engineering from Government College of Engineering, Thirunelveli, India in 1985. Johnson also completed a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Environmental Engineering Technology/Environmental Technology from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology from 2000 to 2002. In 2012 to 2015, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a focus on Business Administration and Management, General at the University of Strathclyde. Furthermore, they acquired several professional certifications including Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMI in 2015 to 2016, Cost Engineering Professional from AACE International in 2016 to 2017, and Lead Auditor ISO 9001:2015 in 2018. Additionally, they completed various diplomas and certificates in Asset Management from different institutes such as the Institute of Asset Management (IAM), the Institute of Asset Management, UK, and WPiAM - Australia. Johnson also received professional education in Nanofiltration and RO Water Treatment from Delft University of Technology in 2023 and attended an Asset Management Training - Workshop by the Federation of Canadian Municipality (FCM) in the same year.
