Richard Briggs has extensive law enforcement and mental health experience, currently serving as a Lieutenant and Patrol Operations Commander at the Ashland Police Department since 2002. Responsibilities include assisting the Chief of Police with budget management for a $3.9 million department. In addition, Richard operates as a Mental Health Clinician and EMDR Therapist at On-Site Academy, specializing in trauma-focused treatment for First Responders. Richard is active in the Massachusetts Urban Search and Rescue Team as a Canine Search Specialist and has served as a Peer Support Member for the Massachusetts District 14 Multidisciplinary CISM Team. Previous roles include Acting Chief of Police, Sergeant, and various police officer positions at different institutions. Richard holds multiple degrees in counseling psychology, public administration, and public safety leadership, alongside an important foundation in criminal justice.
