Alagusundaram PR has extensive work experience in the finance and accounting sector. Alagusundaram started their career as a CA Trainee at Hindustan Unilever Limited - Pond's (India) in 1993. Alagusundaram then worked at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited as an Officer in Accounts & Finance before joining Asian Paints in 1997. At Asian Paints, they held various managerial positions and was also a part of the SAP Implementation Team. Alagusundaram joined Pidilite Industries Limited in 2008 as the Chief of Treasury & Marketing Finance. Currently, they are working at Ashok Leyland, where they have held multiple roles, including Head of Corporate Accounting & Consolidation, Financial Controller for Parts, Service, Quality & Digital initiatives, and Head of Budgets, Costing & Investor Relations.

Alagusundaram then attended St. Joseph's University from 1988 to 1991 and obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree, specializing in Business/Commerce. Continuing their education, from 1989 to 1992, they pursued a degree in Cost Accountancy at the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, focusing on Accounting and Business/Management. In 1991, they also began their studies at The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, completing their ACA degree in 1994. This program encompassed Accounting and Finance, Taxation, and Management Accounting. Alagusundaram PR then went on to The Institute of Company Secretaries of India from 1995 to 1997, where they earned their ACS degree specializing in Corporate Laws and Secretarial practices. Later in their career, they attended the Indian School of Business in 2014 and 2015, completing the Leading Transformation Programme, which emphasized Business Process Transformation.
