Samantha Hung

Director, Gender Equality Division at Asian Development Bank

Samantha Hung is an experienced professional in gender equality and development, currently serving as Director of Gender Equality at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) since August 2009. In this role, Samantha builds relationships with stakeholders across ADB’s European member countries and oversees knowledge sharing and outreach activities. Previous positions at ADB included Deputy Representative for the European Representative Office, Senior Advisor to the Vice President, and Senior Social Development Specialist, where responsibilities encompassed strategic advice, implementation of gender policies, and management of gender-focused programs. Prior to ADB, Samantha held key roles at organizations like the New Zealand Agency for International Development, Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, and UNICEF, contributing to gender mainstreaming and capacity building initiatives across various regional and international contexts. Samantha holds a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences specializing in International Development from RMIT University, as well as degrees in Law and Commerce from the University of Melbourne, and CIPD qualifications in Human Resources Management.
