Hye-Joon Lee currently serves as a Human Rights Defenders Programme Officer at the Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA) since May 2022. Previously, Hye-Joon held the position of Gender and Human Rights Associate Officer at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) where advocacy for sexual and reproductive health rights and legislative reviews in the Caribbean were key responsibilities. Hye-Joon also gained valuable experience as a Research Associate at the Cornell Center on the Death Penalty Worldwide, contributing to the analysis of death penalty laws and drafting communications to the UN. Earlier roles include an internship at the Southern Africa Litigation Centre focusing on land displacement cases and a legal internship at Yale Law School’s Worker and Immigrant Rights Advocacy Clinic. Hye-Joon's education includes a Doctor of Law from Cornell Law School and a Bachelor of Science in Media, Culture, and Communication from New York University.
