Joel Berniac has worked in a variety of roles since 1994. Joel began as a PhD Student and Research Assistant at the University of Notre Dame. In 1999, they became a Research Scientist at Bayer. From 2001 to 2009, they worked at Paratek Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in various roles including Associate Director of Business Development, Principal Scientist/Project Coordinator, Senior Scientist, and Research Scientist II. In 2009, they became CEO and Co-Founder of Akrivis Technologies, LLC and Director of Management Board of AsisChem, Inc. In 2017, they were appointed French Foreign Trade Advisor (CCEF: Conseiller du Commerce Extérieur de la France) for the Comité National des Conseillers du Commerce Extérieur de la France. In 2018, they became President, CEO and Co-Founder of InnoZoa, Inc. and in 2019 they were appointed Executive Director of Business Development, USA for INOVOTION. Most recently, in 2020, they founded BioFuturis, LLC and became its President.
Joel Berniac obtained their B.Sc. in Math, Physics, and Chemistry from Lycée Pierre de Fermat in 1989-1992. Joel then attended CPE Lyon from 1992-1997, earning an Engineer degree in Organic Chemistry. Joel went on to the University of Notre Dame from 1994-1999, earning a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry. Finally, they attended the D'Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University from 2003-2005, earning an MBA in High-Tech.
