Senior Principal Scientist at AskGene

Kurt Shanebeck has a long and distinguished career in the field of biotechnology, starting with their role as a Senior Research Associate at Immunex in 1983. During their time there, they made key scientific contributions, including the identification and cloning of the genes for Interleukin-15 and IL-15 receptor α chain, and the purification and sequencing of Interleukin-4.

In 1994, they moved to Corixa Corp., where they researched immunotherapeutic and prophylactic treatments for cancer, infectious disease and autoimmunity. Theirkey scientific contributions included the generation and characterization of tumor specific CD4 and CD8 T cell clones for antigen discovery, and T cell expression cloning of P.

In 2006, Kurt joined Allozyne as a Scientist, where they were responsible for in-vitro and in-vivo assay development supporting the generation of protein therapeutics modified using incorporation of non-natural amino acids. Theirkey scientific contributions included being responsible for all pre-clinical biology in support of successful IND filing for lead product candidate, and developing an in vitro B cell cloning and functional screening methodology to successfully generate high potency rabbit monoclonal antibodies to cytokines and cell surface receptors.

Kurt joined AskGene Pharma in 2014 as a Senior Scientist, and then moved to AskGene Pharma, Inc. in 2021, where they currently hold the role of Senior Principal Scientist.
