Michael Baran

Michael Baran has extensive experience in tax compliance and management. Michael currently holds the position of Director of Tax Compliance at Official ASM Global since March 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Vertex, Inc. for nearly 18 years, starting in April 2003. During their time at Vertex, Inc., they served as a Tax Manager and was responsible for overseeing and reviewing corporate income tax compliance for various types of taxes. Michael also handled reporting requirements, tax planning, and supervised a team. Before joining Vertex, Inc., they worked as a Tax Manager at Dollar Financial Group from December 1999 to April 2003. Prior to that, they served as a Tax Manager at Kreischer Miller from October 1996 to December 1999. Michael began their career as a Senior Tax Accountant at Smart & Associates in November 1993 and worked there until October 1996. Throughout their career, Michael has accomplished various achievements, including successful IRS audit defense, tax savings through international restructuring, and implementation of tax software as part of an initial public offering.

Michael Baran attended Allentown Central Catholic High School, although the specific years are unknown. From 1988 to 1992, they studied Accounting and obtained their Bachelor's degree from Villanova University. Michael then pursued further education at Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law from 2001 to 2007, specializing in Taxation and earning a Masters degree.
