Manly Romero

Head Librarian at Aspen Music Festival and School

Manly Romero has a wealth of experience in the music field, starting in 2006 when they became the Performance Librarian and Administrative Director of the Contemporary Performance Program at the Manhattan School of Music. In this role, they were responsible for budgeting, resource allocation, and serving as an associate producer for performances.

In 2018, Manly moved on to become the Head Librarian at both The New York Pops and the Aspen Music Festival and School. As Head Librarian, they oversaw the management and organization of music materials for the orchestras.

Prior to these roles, Manly worked as a Librarian at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival starting in 2011 and as an Orchestra Librarian at the Berkshire Choral Festival starting in 2007.

Manly Romero's education history begins in 1984 when they attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Manly pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Bassoon Performance & Composition, completing their studies in 1991. In 1987, they also enrolled in Temple University to further focus on Bassoon Performance. The duration of their time at Temple University is unspecified. Later, from 1994 to 1996, Manly attended the University of Michigan, earning a Master's Degree in Music Theory and Composition. Finally, from 2001 to 2005, they continued their education at the University of Michigan, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Music Theory and Composition.
