Scott Burgess

Scott Burgess has a diverse work experience in the field of audio engineering and management. Scott is currently working as the Operations Manager at The Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College since October 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Chief Audio Engineer and Livestream Director at Aspen Music Festival and School starting from June 2021.

Scott has also worked as the Manager of Recording Labs and Live Sound at the University of Colorado Denver from January 2013 to June 2022. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of recording and teaching studios, as well as providing live sound support for student, faculty, and guest performances.

Before joining the University of Colorado Denver, Scott worked as the Head Audio/Media Engineer at Aspen Music Festival and School from June 2014 to September 2015. Scott led a team of engineers and provided recording and reinforcement services for over 300 events during the festival.

Additionally, Scott has experience as a Producer at White Pine Music from October 2004 to November 2013, where they worked on various projects. Scott also served as the Audio Production Manager at Central Michigan University from August 1999 to January 2013. In this role, they were responsible for recording numerous events and managing classroom technology and computer inventory.

Scott has also held positions such as Senior Audio Engineer at Aspen Music Festival and School during the summer of 2011, Technical Assistant at Telarc International Corp from January 1993 to August 1996, Recording Engineer at Commercial Recording Studios from June 1989 to December 1992, and Bassoon and Contrabassoon player at Memphis Symphony Orchestra from August 1987 to June 1989.

Scott Burgess obtained a Diploma with honors from Interlochen Arts Academy in 1982. From 1983 to 1987, they pursued a Bachelor of Music degree in Bassoon Performance & Audio Production at the Cleveland Institute of Music. In 1992 to 1993, they attended Cleveland State University, although no specific degree was mentioned. Currently, from 2018 to 2023, they are studying for a Master of Arts degree in Public/Applied History at the University of Colorado Denver.
