Janis Ashburn

Janis Ashburn has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Janis started their career as an Auditor at Shorman Stevens Solutions from March 1997 to April 2003. Janis then worked as an Office Manager at Dr. Hector Perez's office from May 2003 to June 2015. Since July 2017, Janis has been employed at Aspire Indiana Health, where they have held various roles. Janis started as a Life Skills Coach, working with seriously mentally ill clients to provide skills training for emotional regulation, independent living, substance abuse, budgeting, self-care, and seeking medical care until 2019. From 2019 to the present, they have been a part of the On-Call Crisis Team, assisting individuals in crisis situations by providing assessments, referrals, and teaching coping skills. Additionally, Janis has been involved with the Psychological First Aid Crisis Team since 2020, where they support individuals after a crisis, such as disaster or terrorism, by providing safety, establishing connections, and connecting them to support networks. Their most recent role at Aspire Indiana Health is License Eligible Mental Health Counselor, which they have held since October 2021. In this role, they assist clients in identifying goals and provides counseling services using a person-centered approach. Janis also has experience as an Addiction Recovery Coach, where they helped clients connect with recovery community resources, conducted weekly outpatient sessions, and completed clinical documentation.

Janis Ashburn completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Indiana Institute of Technology. The dates of enrollment for this degree are not provided. Janis then pursued a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University, which they completed from 2014 to 2021.
