Aspire Indiana Health
As Associate Medical Director of Behavioral Health for Aspire Indiana Health, Dr. Jerry Sheward provides oversight of behavioral health teams and practices in Anderson and in group home settings. He is a psychiatrist and veteran leader in behavioral healthcare in Indiana.
Sheward previously served with Aspire for 26 years in various roles, departing in 2016 as Vice President and Chief Medical Officer to accept a new position with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration. As Chief Medical Officer overseeing the state’s psychiatric hospitals, he worked to integrate their new NeuroDiagnostic Institute into the state-operated facility network and led the identification and implementation of a new state hospital-wide electronic medical record system.
For his work on the NDI, Sheward received the Hoosier Health Impact Award from FSSA Secretary Dr. Jennifer Sullivan in 2019.
He earned his bachelor’s in chemistry from Wabash College and his MD from Indiana University School of Medicine, serving his psychiatric residency at Indiana University Medical Center. Sheward is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
