Vp, News For Digital Platforms at The Associated Press

Saeed Ahmed has extensive experience in digital news and journalism, starting with their role as a General Assignment Reporter at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution from 2001 to 2007. Saeed then moved on to CNN, where they held various positions including Newsdesk Editor, Multimedia Producer, Supervising News Editor, Senior Assignment Editor, and Senior Editor. During their time at CNN, they oversaw breaking news coverage, led content diversity initiatives, and created the popular newsletter "5 Things." Saeed joined NPR in 2021 as the Director of Digital News and successfully grew traffic during a challenging year for news organizations. Saeed also worked as an Educational Consultant at the Poynter Institute and as the Head of Digital Journalism at BBC News, where they led growth strategies for the organization in North America. In 2023, they joined Georgetown University as an Adjunct Lecturer before becoming the Vice President of News for Digital Platforms at The Associated Press in the same year. In this role, they focus on deepening audience engagement and bringing AP's journalism to a wider audience.

Saeed Ahmed has a degree in Biology from Morehouse College. In 2018, they obtained a certification from the Poynter Institute's NABJ Leadership Academy for Diversity in Digital Media. Saeed also completed a nine-month course on Management Essentials through Turner Broadcasting and a weeklong Surviving Hostile Regions Training course through AKE.
