Shelby Lum

Shelby Lum is a seasoned video journalist currently employed at The Associated Press since August 2021, specializing in enterprise and breaking news stories focused on health and science. Prior to this role, Shelby served as a video producer for The Boston Globe from April 2019 to July 2021, and as a staff photo/video journalist at the Richmond Times-Dispatch from December 2015 to March 2019. Additional experience includes an internship at Alaska Dispatch News and photo intern responsibilities at Virginia Tech. Shelby's early career involved managing the photo team at The Lantern and working as an editorial assistant and photographer for Atlanta Music Guide. Shelby holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, English, and Photography from The Ohio State University.
