Valerie Komor

Director, AP Corporate Archives at The Associated Press

Valerie Komor has extensive work experience in the field of archiving and historical collections. Valerie worked at The Associated Press as the Director of AP Corporate Archives starting in 2003. Prior to that, they held the position of Director of Prints, Photographs, and Architectural Collections at the New-York Historical Society from 2000 to 2003. From 1996 to 2000, Valerie worked as a Supervisory Archivist at the Smithsonian Institution Archives of American Art. Valerie also served as an Archivist at the Rockefeller Archive Center from 1993 to 1996 and as a Project Archivist at Oberlin College Archives from 1991 to 1993.

Valerie Komor obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Classics from the University of California, Davis in the years 1976 to 1980. Following that, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Medieval Studies at Yale University from 1980 to 1981. Finally, they completed their education by obtaining a Master of Library & Information Science (M.L.I.S.) degree in Archival theory and practice from The University of Texas at Austin between 1989 and 1991.
