Mark Kontos has over two decades of experience as a senior leader in financial management and strategic planning. Mark is currently a Trustee at Associated Universities, and previously served as Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice President, Treasurer, and Executive Council Member at MITRE. In this role, they were responsible for advancing MITRE's position as a technologically broad-based and managerially excellent steward of Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs). Mark also led efforts to improve strategic planning, analytic decision support, business processes, financial information, management systems, performance metrics, budgeting, resource allocation protocols, and facilities real estate management. In addition, they managed MITRE's business investment initiatives, including overseas expansion.
Before joining MITRE, Mark served as Financial Consultant for Strategic Business Initiatives at Northrop Grumman. Prior to that, they were Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice President and Executive Committee Member at Battelle. In this role, they were responsible for the financial management of one of the world's largest independent research and development organizations. Mark also oversaw Battelle's strategic planning process and led efforts to improve the organization's analytical and decision-making capabilities.
