Nitin Madnani

Nitin Madnani has extensive work experience in the field of research and engineering. Nitin is currently a Distinguished Research Engineer at ETS AI Research Labs, a position they have held since September 2021. Prior to this, they served as a Senior Research Scientist at ETS from November 2017 to September 2021, and as a Research Scientist from May 2013 to November 2017. Before joining ETS, Nitin worked as an Associate Research Scientist at the same organization from June 2010 to May 2013.

In addition to their work at ETS, Nitin held the role of Chief Information Officer at the Association for Computational Linguistics Inc starting in January 2019.

Nitin's earlier experience includes their tenure as a Doctoral Student and Research Scientist at the Institute for Advanced Computer Studies from January 2004 to July 2010. Nitin also worked as an MS Student and Research Assistant at the same institute from August 2001 to December 2003.

Furthermore, Nitin gained valuable industry experience during their time as a Research Intern at IBM Research in June 2005. Here, they contributed to the MALACH project, focused on extracting information from a large collection of spoken interviews related to the Nazi Holocaust. Nitin worked on developing active learning strategies to enhance the performance of the information extraction system.

Starting from May 2002, Nitin served as a Research Intern at Netrino, where they worked on various projects including writing software for embedded systems and designing a temperature-estimating cricket emulator.

Nitin Madnani holds a Ph.D in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, which they pursued from 2004 to 2010. Nitin also completed their Master of Science in Computer Engineering at the same institution from 2001 to 2003. Nitin Madnani started their education journey by obtaining a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, where they studied from 1996 to 2000. In addition to their academic degrees, they have obtained certifications such as the Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in January 2021 and the Machine Learning Engineering in Production certification from DeepLearning.AI.
