Michael Westfall possesses extensive experience in oversight and audit functions within governmental organizations. Currently serving as a Board Member for the Association of Inspectors General and the State Inspector General for the Commonwealth of Virginia since 2015, Michael provides executive leadership and supervision to various administrative functions, including managing the State Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Hotline. Previous roles include Chief Audit Executive with the Virginia State Police, where Michael directed internal audits to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness, and various positions within Chesterfield County Government, culminating in the role of Enterprise Risk Management Liaison. Michael's early career included a significant tenure as Lead Auditor at the U.S. Department of the Interior. Michael holds both a Master's Degree in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Commonwealth University and continues education through the Virginia Executive Institute.
