Deanna Dawson serves as the CEO of the Association of Washington Cities since June 2022. Prior to this, she was the Executive Director at Sound Cities Association, where she provided one voice to 38 cities and over one million residents to create regional solutions through advocacy, education, and mutual support. Deanna also served as the Director of Federal Affairs & Diversity Initiatives at Justice at Stake, overseeing strategic initiatives to promote judicial diversity and transparency in the legal system. With a background in law and a passion for advocating for marginalized communities, Deanna has held various roles in different organizations, including serving as a City Councilmember and Domestic Violence Prosecutor. She holds a JD from the University of Washington School of Law and a BA in Philosophy from Vassar College.
