Katharine de Baun has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. In 1995, they founded Moms Online, an online parenting community that was highly popular and eventually sold to Oxygen Media. During their time at Moms Online, they also authored a well-received blog called "The Daily Alexander." From 1998 to 2001, they worked as the Creative Director for Moms Online at Oxygen Media. In 2007, they co-founded MomsWorld.com. In 2010, they joined fitsmi, Inc. as the Chief Content Officer, where they led the creation and management of online group coaching programs for teen girls struggling with their weight and parents of overweight kids. Since 2016, they have been working as the Marketing Manager for the College of Science at Oregon State University. Most recently, in 2021, they started working at Assured Allies as a Content Manager.
Katharine de Baun's education history began in 1982 when they enrolled at Princeton University. Katharine completed their undergraduate studies in French Literature and received a Bachelor's degree in 1986. After a gap of several years, they attended the University of Chicago from 1989 to 1992. During this time, they pursued a Master's degree in Comparative Literature. In 2019, Katharine de Baun returned to academia and joined Pacific University, where they earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative non-fiction in 2021.
