Yating Chai

Yating (Claire) Chai is an experienced professional in computational biology and bioinformatics, currently serving as Associate Director of Computational Biology ML/AI at Astellas Pharma since November 2022. Prior to this role, Yating held positions at AbbVie, including Principal Scientist and Senior Scientist II, where responsibilities included leading bioinformatics engineering support for immunology and neuroscience and overseeing projects related to single cell RNA sequencing and multi-omics data integration. Yating also served as a Senior NGS Data Analyst at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals and as Scientist III at Thermo Fisher Scientific, focusing on Next Generation Semiconductor Sequencing and biostatistical data analysis. Earlier experience includes a Research Assistant Professorship at Auburn University, leading food safety projects, and various roles at Auburn University related to MEMS-based biosensor development. Yating holds a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering and Microfabrication from Auburn University and a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science from Tianjin University.
