Head Of Bioinformatics Research at Aster Insights

Phaedra Agius has a comprehensive work experience in the field of bioinformatics and research. Phaedra is currently serving as the Head of Bioinformatics Research at Aster Insights, where they have been since September 2023. Before that, they held the position of Director of Bioinformatics Research at Aster Insights from January 2022 to September 2023.

Prior to joining Aster Insights, Phaedra worked as a Lead data at Tempus, Inc. from September 2019 to January 2022. Phaedra also has significant experience at the New York Genome Center, where they worked as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist from September 2014 to September 2019. During their time there, they contributed to the development of the SCANVIS software and conducted research on splicing signatures in neurological diseases.

Before joining the New York Genome Center, Phaedra served as a Senior Research Scientist at BIC, MSKCC from September 2012 to August 2014. Phaedra also worked as a Research Fellow with Christina Leslie at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from June 2008 to August 2012.

Phaedra's earlier experiences include roles as an Invited Lecturer at the University of Tartu in 2008, a Research Fellow at the University of Bristol in 2007, and a Research Assistant & Teaching Assistant at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from August 2003 to May 2007.

Phaedra Agius completed a Bachelor's degree in Education and Mathematics at the University of Malta from 1993 to 1997. From 2001 to 2003, they pursued a Master's degree in Science at the University of Greensboro North Carolina. Phaedra furthered their education by obtaining a PhD in Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, which they completed from 2003 to 2007.
