Carlo Cassani is a highly experienced scientist in the field of organic chemistry and catalysis. Carlo completed a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Chemistry at the Università di Bologna before earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Organic Chemistry and Catalysis with Excellent cum laude from ICIQ and Universitat Rovira i Virgili. Professional experience includes serving as a Ph.D. student at ICIQ from November 2009 to December 2013, an internship at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland focusing on target-oriented synthesis of enantioenriched bioactive molecules in 2009, and a Marie-Curie postdoctoral researcher at the University of Gothenburg from May 2015 to April 2017, specializing in method development in photoredox catalysis. Recently, Carlo held roles as Associate Principal Scientist and Senior Research Scientist at AstraZeneca in May 2025.
