Derick Khoo

Derick Khoo is the HR Director for the Asia Area at AstraZeneca. Derick has over 20 years of experience in human resources, and has held leadership roles at several multinational companies.

Khoo started their career at British American Tobacco (BAT) in 1996, where they held various HR roles over the next 11 years. Derick then joined Accenture as an HR Manager, before moving to Eli Lilly & Company in a similar role. In 2007, they joined Johnson & Johnson as the HR Director for Asia Pacific Recruiting and Talent Acquisition.

During their time at Johnson & Johnson, Khoo was responsible for leading the recruitment and talent acquisition function for the Asia Pacific region. Derick also played a key role in the company's HR transformation program. In 2013, they left Johnson & Johnson to join the Tan Chong Group as Sr. General Manager, Human Resources.

At Tan Chong Group, Khoo led the group's HR transformation program and pioneered the implementation of SAP SuccessFactors, a first in Malaysia. Derick also ran the Tan Chong 57th Anniversary Staff Purchase and Vendors Appreciation program, which sold RM150 million worth of products in 3 months.

In November 2015, Khoo left Tan Chong Group to join SAP as Regional Sales Manager. Derick led SAP SuccessFactors sales opportunities at top government-linked and public-listed companies in Malaysia. In 2016, they solutioned and delivered the largest cloud HR project in Malaysia, valued at €1 million with the signing of Tenaga Nasional, in partnership with PwC.

Khoo joined AstraZeneca as HR Director, Asia Area in January 2017.

Derick Khoo has an MBA in Business Administration from Indiana University - Kelley School of Business, an Executive Development Program from The Wharton School, a Senior HR Executive Program from University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business, and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Human Development from Universiti Putra Malaysia. Derick also has a Certification from SHRM in Global Professional HR (2010-2013).
