Istvan Horvath

Istvan Horvath is a Senior Scientist at AstraZeneca, having joined the company in 2025. They previously held roles as a Researcher at Chalmers University of Technology and in medicinal chemistry and biophysics at Umeå University from 2013 to 2015, where they focused on inflammation and neurodegeneration. Istvan also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Chemistry, Umeå University, studying bacterial amyloid inhibitors, and worked as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Enzymology and the Niels Bohr Institute, where they investigated protein interactions. They earned their PhD in Biochemistry, cum laude, from Eötvös Loránd University in 2009, following a Master’s in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the same institution.
