Lead Propulsion Engineer For Landers And Spacecraft at Astrobotic Technology

Francis Szalay has an extensive work experience in the aerospace industry. Francis is currently working as the Lead Propulsion Engineer for Landers and Spacecraft at Astrobotic since September 2019. Prior to this, they served as the Principal Mission Assurance Engineer at Northrop Grumman from June 2018 to September 2019, and at Orbital ATK from August 2017 to June 2018.

Before joining Orbital ATK, Francis worked as a Flight Assurance Engineer at Indotronix International Corporation, where they served as the Deputy Flight Assurance Manager for the Hylas-4 commercial satellite. Francis was employed there from August 2016 to July 2017.

Earlier in their career, Francis held the position of Senior Consultant at The Waverly Group from May 2015 to May 2016. Francis also worked as a Senior Engineer (Project) at ARES Corporation from July 2011 to April 2015.

Francis began their career at Orbital ATK as a Mechanical Engineer in February 2011. Francis then served as a Propulsion Engineer from January 2008 to January 2011, and as a Systems Engineer from November 2007 to December 2007. Francis also briefly worked as a Flight Controller from October 2007 to November 2007. Francis started their career at Orbital ATK as a Systems Engineer in June 2006 and was with the company until October 2007.

Francis Szalay completed their undergraduate education at Boston University from 2000 to 2004, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Aerospace Engineering. Francis then pursued further studies at the University of Michigan, where they obtained a master's degree in Aerospace Engineering during the period of 2004 to 2006. After a short break, Francis continued their education at The George Washington University from 2007 to 2010, where they completed a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Systems Engineering.
