Kara Rodriguez has a decade of work experience in digital marketing and strategy. Kara began their career in 2007 as a Supervisor/Bartender at 23rd Street Brewery. In 2011, they became an Email Marketing Coordinator at Ogden Publications where they collaborated with a team to raise email subscriptions by 22%. Kara also assisted in coordinating email databases of more than 91 million mailings annually and more than 1.1 million email addresses. In 2013, they joined DEG Digital as an Implementation Consultant and Email Marketing Coordinator. From 2014 to 2022, they worked at the KU Alumni Association, first as Digital Media & Marketing Coordinator, then as Assistant Director of Digital Media, and finally as Director of Digital Strategy. In their role as Director of Digital Strategy, they used their knowledge with email segmentation and strategy to reduce the number of email sends from 13.8M to 7.
Kara Rodriguez received their degree in Journalism with a field of study in Strategic Communications from The University of Kansas between 2006 and 2010. Kara also holds certifications from ExactTarget in Email Automation, Email Content Creation Essentials, Email Data Management Essentials, Email Segmentation, and Marketing Certification for Deliverability, all obtained in April 2013. Additionally, they hold a certification in Email Marketing from HubSpot Academy, obtained in January 2023.
