Amy Foertsch has a diverse range of work experience in the biomedical engineering and medical research fields. Amy co-founded Ataia Medical in 2017, where they served as the COO and played a key role in developing the FDA-listed and patent-protected SPEAX Communication System. Prior to that, they worked as an Associate Quality Engineer at Alcon, a Novartis division, from June 2017 to June 2018. Amy also gained research experience at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, where they worked as a Student Research Assistant from May 2016 to August 2016. During this time, they developed methods for screening and quantifying drugs in human umbilical cord and plasma samples. Amy also conducted research at the Wood Hudson Cancer Research Laboratory, where they focused on cervical and ovarian cancer, specifically studying the roles of certain genetic factors and variants. In addition to their research work, Amy mentored junior laboratory assistants and managed laboratory equipment inventory at the Wood Hudson Cancer Research Laboratory.
Amy Foertsch attended the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2013 to 2017. Amy earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with Honors in Biomedical Engineering.
