Richard Spitzer

Senior Advisor at Atar Capital

Richard Spitzer is a Senior Advisor to Atar Capital, where he focuses on the Automotive, Industrials & Fin-Tech sectors. Since 2010, he has been an advisor and investor, in both venture capital and private equity. His focus as a venture investor is in seed through B rounds in automotive, logistics, mobility, fintech, e-commerce, and edge computing businesses. As a private equity investor, he focuses on mid-cap and proprietary carve-out deals. Richard is currently a board advisor at Open Lending, Urgently, Niron Magnetics, Voltaiq, and Ravin.

Previously, Richard spent 20+ years in Management Consulting, most recently serving as Managing Director & Head of the Global Automotive & Industrial practice at Accenture. In addition, Richard was a Senior Partner at A.T. Kearney and Booz-Allen-Hamilton.

During his management consulting career, Richard focused serving clients in the automotive, industrial and energy sectors, where he led large scale transformations for several global automotive OEMs and suppliers, integrated oil & gas multinational and consumer goods companies, covering geographies including the US, China, India, Japan, Korea, Germany, Italy, France, Brazil, Colombia, and sub-Saharan Africa.

Richard has moderated the World Economic Forum Automotive Roundtable in Beijing, China; was named to the “Top 25 Consultants” in Consulting Magazine in 2006.

He is also a published subject matter expert and contributor to the upcoming MIT Press book, “Faster, Smarter, Greener: The Automobile and Urban Society”, co-authored by Dr. Venkat Sumantran, Charles Fine, and David Gonsalvez. Richard has also contributed to a book published by Penwell entitled, “Creating the High Performance International Petroleum Company: Dinosaurs Can Fly”, by John E. Treat.

Mr. Spitzer holds a B.S., with Honors, in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mississippi and earned his MBA in Finance with Honors from Southern Methodist University.
