Betty Mendes

Betty (Elizabeth) Mendes has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical and clinical research industry. Betty (Elizabeth) has held various roles in different companies throughout their career. Betty (Elizabeth)'smost recent position was as the VP of Clinical Operations at Atara Biotherapeutics, starting in 2018. Prior to that, they served as the VP of Clinical Operations at Intercept Pharmaceuticals from 2017 to 2018. From 2016 to 2017, Betty was the Executive Director of Clinical Operations at FibroGen, Inc. In 2014 to 2015, they held the role of Sr. Director of Clinical Operations at Onyx Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Amgen. Betty has also worked at Amgen for a significant portion of their career, starting as a Senior Clinical Research Associate in 1996 and progressing to roles such as Exec Dir, Global Study Mgmt and Therapeutic Area Operations Director. Before joining Amgen, they worked at Pfizer as a Clinical Research Associate and at Memorial Hospital of RI as a Research Associate.

Betty (Elizabeth) Mendes completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Physiology at Boston University from 1985 to 1989. Following this, they pursued a Master of Public Health degree with a focus on Health Care Management at UCLA from 2000 to 2002.
