Michelle O’Neill has a strong background in human resources with experience in various roles and industries. Michelle is currently working as the HR Director at ATC Computer Transport & Logistics since March 2023. Prior to that, they worked as the Head of HR at SIG Ireland from May 2019 to February 2023. Michelle also served as the HR Manager at JTI (Japan Tobacco International) from October 2013 to May 2019, where they were responsible for various HR functions including compensation & benefits, payroll, recruitment, employee relations, and change management. Before that, they worked as an HR Generalist at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals from April 2013 to September 2013, where they focused on HR initiatives and policy compliance. From February 2011 to March 2013, they worked as the HR Manager at Electroplus Group, where they led projects related to employee engagement, health and safety management, and performance management. Michelle also gained experience as an HR Executive at Fannin Ltd from February 2008 to February 2011, handling various HR functions and projects. Prior to their HR roles, they worked as an HR Assistant at Sogeti and as a Receptionist at G.E Security.

In 2002, they attended the National College of Ireland and obtained a Higher Certificate in Human Resources & Industrial Relations. Michelle continued their studies at the same institution and from 2004 to 2007, they completed a Bachelor's Degree (Hons) in Human Resource Management.
In 2007, Michelle pursued further education at IBEC and obtained a Diploma in Employment Law, which they completed in 2008.
In 2015, they attended the Mediation Foundation of Ireland and received a Certificate in Mediation.
In 2017, Michelle attended Hult Ashridge and studied Organizational Leadership.
From 2019 to 2020, they attended Kingstown College and completed an Advanced Diploma in Personal, Leadership & Executive Coaching. In the same year, they also obtained an Advanced Diploma in Mental Health & Wellbeing Coaching from the same institution.
Additionally, Michelle has acquired several additional certifications. In 2020, they obtained a certification in Organization Design from LinkedIn. Michelle also received certifications in "Using Neuroscience for More Effective L&D" from LinkedIn and "Professional Coaching Practice & Ethics" from Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI). Furthermore, they became an Associate Member of the Irish Institute of Training & Development (IITD) in 2020.
