Mary-Elizabeth McFarlen

Mary-Elizabeth McFarlen is a History Teacher at Athens City Schools since July 2023, following a brief tenure as an ACT Prep Instructor with United Way of Athens-Limestone County. Previously, Mary-Elizabeth served as a First-Year Experience Peer Instructor at The University of Alabama in Huntsville, where responsibilities included classroom assistance and mentoring first-year students. Additionally, Mary-Elizabeth worked as an Academic Coach at the UAH Student Success Center, focusing on individualized student development, and held roles as a tutor in history and writing. Prior experience includes leading the Borne the Battle Transcription Department for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, overseeing a team of transcribers while ensuring compliance and timely output of podcast transcripts. Mary-Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Writing from The University of Alabama in Huntsville.
