John Foltz has a strong background in research and development in the field of metallurgy. John began their career as a Research Associate at Michigan State University in 2004 before moving on to The Ohio State University in 2007. At Ohio State, they focused on studying the physical metallurgy of high-strength titanium alloys and developed expertise in using neural networks to analyze microstructural features. In 2010, John joined ATI as a Principle Research Metallurgist, where they worked on developing new alloys, process improvements, and models. John later became the Director of Research and Development, leading the largest R&D group within ATI. In this role, they collaborated with internal and external stakeholders to advance the science and engineering of titanium alloys, nickel superalloys, and specialty steels. Currently, John serves as the Director of Technology - Powder Solutions at ATI.
John Foltz received a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Material Science and Engineering from Michigan State University in 2005. John then pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Material Science and Engineering at Michigan State University from 2006 to 2007. Subsequently, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Material Science and Engineering from The Ohio State University from 2007 to 2010.
