James Taylor has a diverse work experience in various roles and positions. James began their career in the United States Navy as an Aviation Electronic Technician, where they supervised the maintenance and repair of aircraft electrical system components and conducted repairs using approved equipment. After leaving the Navy, they joined Johnson Controls as a Building Efficiency Systems Technician, where they loaded system-level controller software, performed commissioning and system diagnostics for Building Automation Systems, and calibrated systems using standard test equipment.

In 2010, James moved to CH2M HILL, where they worked as an O&M Supervisor, overseeing various operations and maintenance tasks. James later became an HVAC Controls Superintendent, responsible for managing HVAC control systems.
